A Word Can Be Worth $7,000

This is going to be a little anecdotal but this is what I just overheard in a conversation in which I was not participating. My loose recap. Quotation marks below should have their own little air quotes around them too.
“A lady in Georgetown said she had 75 reservations cancel yesterday after the Governor mentioned us. They all left the area She said she lost $7,000 to $8,000 in sales. And look, nothing happened.”
I understand in these situations these things happen but the county foresaw this coming yesterday. The email is an attempt at damage control sent directly from the county. They foresaw the ramifications. It is unedited. The highlights are original.
